Reviews

Kieninger KSU 116cm Mechanical Movement is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy! I ordered the Kieninger KSU 116cm 8-Day, Cable-Driven, Triple-Chime Mechanical Clock Movement, SKU 13049-bundle to replace works that needed repair and had no nighttime silencing. The bundle includes the main movement, moving moon dial, twisted rod lyre pendulum, etched bob, brass weight shells, weight fills, clock hands, and cable crank. All four boxes arrived in excellent condition via FedEx and sooner than I had expected. The instructions included were detailed providing many illustrations and cautions. It looks and sounds great. I had built this Grandfather clock walnut casework in February-June 1969 in the Ft Monmouth, NJ, US Army woodshop. The woodshop instructor was an older German gentleman who had become the Master Cabinet Maker in Leipzig, Germany before WWII. He and his bride fled to Basel, Switzerland for the war years; they both lost family. After the war, they went to the new Israel and later to New York City where Karl worked as an antique furniture restorer for the museums. In the 1960's Karl took a job as the woodshop instructor at Ft Monmouth. This was a blessing to all of us in the Army. Karl mentored me with the casework that I had designed after studying numerous pictures of antique clocks. The 1969 works were also Kieninger tripple-chime, but the new works provide more control and are cable vs chain. The new works provide a choice of 3 melodies: Westminster, Whittington or St. Michaels, or an automatic chime sequence of all three, playing one each hour. One can select silencing of: quarter hour chimes, night, and 24 hours. The controls for melody and silencing are conveniently available at the front of the moon dial. I am quite pleased with this Kieninger movement bundle and look forward to many years of pleasant chiming and good time keeping.
