Will this fit in a 3 inch opening of existing clock stand

Asked by: Ktr5
Hi Ktr5, this is a clock dial/bezel that it 4 1/2" wide. It's not meant to fit into a hole like a clock insert. We'd recommend #15500 for a 3" hole:

not clear on how this mounts to the clock case itself . What size hole needs to be cut ? Could you give more detail such as an illustration of how this unit mounts and what shaft length would be needed?

Asked by: bentley
Hi Bentley, this glass/bezel unit has a hinge on one side so the glass can be opened from the front of the clock once the dial is mounted. The dial needs to be mounted on a support board in order for the dial to be held in place. With the glass bezel open, you'll see small holes in the metal located on the outer rim on the dial. Ten brass nails included with the dial need to be nailed to the dial and support board to secure this item to the wood. Depending on how thick you make your support board behind the dial, that will determine what shaft length you will need for the movement. When viewing the quartz movements, the max dial thickness is the measurement of the support board along with the thickness of the dial. The #27025 will offer a metal dial which would be only an estimated 1/16” thick, add the thickness of the support board. So, if you apply a ¼” of wood for the support board plus the 1/16” for the metal dial, we would recommend a movement with a max dial thickness of at least 5/16” to provide enough room to still get the hands and hardware onto shaft. I need a bezel, dial and glass for an old cast iron mental clock 51/2inch in diameter. Do you have any ideas?

This is the exact clock face I need to replace mine, however it is not a hinged clock face. It is also a pendulum quartz movement. The exact outside measurement is 3 7/8 in., with a whole size of 3 3/4 in. and the pend. is 8 in. long, swings from the top.

Based on the information you provided, it sounds like you'll need to replace your existing pendulum movement. We'll reach out to you soon via email to help you find a replacement!
