2-inch Gold Clock Insert is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from priced right I bought 5 of these inserts a couple of weeks ago. Thought they were defective at first because the minute hand appeared loose, but when the battery was engaged the clocks worked fine and have been keeping accurate time ever since. I plan to use them in some rock clocks I'm making from local stone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mounting According to the directions, 1 7/8 Drill should be used which works most of the time, however on a number of inserts I have had to open the hole a little to get the insert into the hole. Other than that they work very well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stops working I bought one of these about a month ago and it runs for a while and then stops working. I have changed the battery and it still keeps time for a while and then stops, runs a while, then stops again. The clock is exactly what I want but it needs to work. Can I get a replacement?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasant surprise The clock was actually better quality than I was expecting! Shipment was quick. I thought I was paying a little more than necessary, but as soon as I opened the package I knew that I was getting good value, more than expected. Very nice clock! Thank you.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Difficult to set time. The loose movement of the minute hand when setting the time is the only, but BIGGEST, flaw of this clock movement. If it weren't for this problem, I would consider this product a good value for its price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from In total I bought 8 of these--and only one did not work--but they are great at keeping time--I put them in old Model T Ford coils and gave them away for Christmas presents--they were a big hit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best little clock insert I've seen! This little clock insert is exactly what I've been looking for. I looked in craft stores, clock stores, etc., and finally decided to look on line, and I'm so glad I did. I really love it!

The clock hole opening measures 2 inches. The original clock measures approximately 2 1/4 with gold frame. Will this clock insert fit?

Asked by: Haley
Hi Haley, we don't currently offer an insert for a 2" opening. If your material could be increased in diameter a bit to 2 1/8" or 2 1/4", we would recommend #15709, #15686 or #15687.

I feel like a dummy asking this, but is there a trick to getting the back cover off to install a battery? Also, the knob to set the time has a tab on it. May I assume this is to be simply pulled off with pliers and discarded? Thanks.

Asked by: Bubba
To change the battery, simply remove the clear rubber ring from the backside. The back plate is press fit. Using the tip of a metal file to slide under the lip of the back plate will help lift off the plate. Once the plate is removed, you will have access to change the battery. Once the battery has been changed, close the back by pressing the plate firmly onto the insert. The plastic tab under the crown must be removed in order to engage the hands Using tweezers or small needle nose pliers to remove the plastic tab will be useful. Once the tab is removed, set the time to your current time then push the crown all the way into the insert to engage the hands.

The clock I am replacing measures 2 2/8 across. If I get your 1 7/8" clock, it is too small. If I buy your 2 3/8" insert, it is too large for the hole. This seems to be an odd clock for an off size hole. What do you suggest?

Asked by: Haw36
Hi Ray, if your current clock insert fits into a 2 2/8", we would recommend going with a clock insert that can fit into a 2 3/8" hole and adding a rubber band or two to achieve the proper fit. If you have any questions on this information, please contact us at 1-800-556-2548.

the measurement of 2" around gasket. Is thi correct place to measure.

Asked by: JMC5704
Please measure these 3 dimensions on your existing clock insert, and then contact us at 1-800-556-2548 or so we can help you find the right replacement. (1) Overall diameter - diameter of the front portion of the clock insert, include the bezel or brass ring. (2) Mounting diameter - diameter of counter-bore the insert housing will fit into. 3) Mounting depth - measured from the backside of the bezel (brass rim) to the back of the insert housing. It will depict how deep a counter-bored insert mount hole should be.

We recommend clock insert replacements based on the dimensions of your existing clock insert. There are 3 dimensions you'll need to measure on your existing clock insert: overall diameter, mounting diameter, and mounting depth. Please see our insert specification diagram:
