Best known for his masterful bird art compositions and accurate portrayal of animals, Michael Klafke resides in Western Wisconsin near the beautiful Mississippi River. He is a graduate of UW-Milwaukee in the field of zoology. Self-taught, Klafke began painting full-time in 1982. His many accomplishments include six “Birds in Art” exhibitions at the prestigious Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wausau, WI; along with exhibits at Explorers Hall at the National Geographic Society in Washington, DC, the Swedish Museum of Natural History in Stockholm, Sweeden, and the Hunter Museum of Art in Chattanoga, TN.
In 1993, Klafke was named “Artist of the Year” by the Ruffed Grouse Society. He is also involved in many programs promoting environmental education and awareness.
