Click For Zoom	Paul Entz 2009 Grand Prize Winner, Master Clock Builder Alberta, Canada Clock is hand crafted from top to bottom, from soild Zebrano (zebrawood). Clock uses Klockit's #12266 movement, dial pendulum, and (marshland wings) glass. Clock is 31 inches high, 15 1/2 wide and 6 1/2 inches deep. Clock took about 8 days to build.

Mark Christensen 2009 Best Floor Clock Rockford, IL Sam had told me time and time again that he wished he had a time machine. "It would be so awesome to travel back to the 1920's, 30's, and 40's and just walk around" he said. Sam is my best friend and has been since high school. As soon as he was engaged, I knew I would have to do something special for him and his fiance. Since he asked me to be his best man, it made sense that I give the couple something that they could hand down to their children. I essentially wanted to make a family heirloom. With four weeks left before the wedding, I decided on that heirloom: a grandfather clock. Sam's heart lies in the early part of the twentieth century. He collects old tube radios, pre-war cameras, and any relic of that time that he can get his hands on. So I decided to design the clock around the Art Deco period, add a little twenty first century flair, and somehow capture a nostalgic feeling for a period that I have never lived through. The challenge began. Sam knew that I was up to something as I disappeared into my shop for weeks to finish the project. He kept asking me what in the world I was making him, and I simply answered "A time machine...," to which he just scoffed and assumed I was giving him a hard time. I used redwood burl veneer for the columns, and solid Honduras mahogany for the semi-circular dividers, back and sides. The wiring is period cloth wrapped around wiring, period plud, and a push button switch with dimmer on the backside of the clock. I decided on a Hermle 8-day Westminister movement and a parchment face (to allow light to show from behind the clock face for the "tube radio" look both from Klockit. I etched the glass door (fully functioning) with a monogram SHA (Sam & Andrea Hiser) and the wedding date. Needless to say, the couple loved the clock, and it sits in a very prominent place in their home constantly reminding them of their wedding day.

Scott Phillips 2009 Best Mantle or Desk Clock Winner Harvest, AL I work on the space shuttle program at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. I have been a woodworker for over three decades and I was recently introduced to clock building by my uncle in Ohio. He recommended Klockit for all me clock needs. This one-of-a-kind Space Shuttle mantel clock took one year to build and secure autographs from the STS-125 space shuttle crew (Hubble Repair). It has eighteen different woods. The walnut base is from my family farm in Ohio which enhanced an already meaningful project. The Space Shuttle crew appreciated this project immensely. I have it on my mantel at home for family and friends to enjoy. I used the #15586 white arabic insert. Thanks for your great company and helpful staff. Keep up the good work.

Click For Zoom	Fran Moore 2009 Best Wall Clock Dallas, TX I used several Russian churches as the motif and outline, then made up the rest. I love Russian architecture. The disciplines involved in this project were: design, woodturning, woodcarving, painting, carpentry, and leaded glass.

Morris Erickson 2008 Grand Prize Winner, Master Clock Builder Minot, ND "I have completed 6 big clocks, all with the 8 day cable driven with moving moon dial, number 1305. These are large clocks—93 inches tall, 32 inches wide, and 20 inches deep. These are for large houses with vaulted ceilings. I have placed these clocks in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and wild Sheep Foundation auctions held at their national conventions. They have sold for an average of $13,000 each. One sold $30,000 at Albuquerque, NM. I also designed a case for the Gift wood gear clock. This clock sold for $5,000 at the Elk Foundation convention in Reno, NV this past February. More than one half of the proceeds from these sales are donated for the benefit of wild life and their habitat. I do two types of furniture. Rustic made from pine and spruce woods and Traditional furniture made from hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, rose wood, and oak for these shows."

Jessica Poeppelman 2008 Best Floor Clock Fort Loramie, OH "Hello. I am Jessica Poeppelman and am seventeen years old. This was my largest wood project. At the beginning of the 2007-2008 school year, I decided I wanted to build a grandfather clock. When looking for different ideas, I saw the Samuel Curio Floor Clock Kit in one of our magazines. However the price for the entire kit seemed a little too much. I decided to build the clock based entirely off the picture and purchase only the components. The only parts I bought included the Hermle triple chime movement, face, pendulum, and chain-driven shell set. On this clock, I used red oak wood and then stained it in golden oak. I had ¼” mirrors installed in the back along with 1/8” glass and six shelves. The finished size was 82x38”x16”. This project was very difficult for many reasons. First, I had never built a clock of any sort before, so this was my first attempt. In addition, because I was basing everything off a picture, without any plans to tell me the next step. Nevertheless, I hope this clock will always be a family heirloom. "

Emerson DeLong 2008 Best Mantle or Desk Clock Winner Kokomo, IN "It is my own design and uses the chiming pendulum movement #12243 and the hinged dial #27025. I used my wood. I am 93 years of age and have 5 children and have made each of them a wall clock and your quartz cuckoo clock. #12227. Of course I made one for myself too. I have made 28 clocks in all using Klockit components. Some were gifts at weddings. As you can see, I am a satisfied customer."

Bruce and Charlotte Vincent 2008 Best Wall Clock Sacramento, CA "Description: The clock consists of a half of a hard shelled canteen gourd mounted on a birdseye maple back board surrounded by a segmented red oak frame. The movement is a key wound pendulum movement, Klockit item # 13035. Process: The clock is a collaboration of Bruce & Charlotte Vincent. Not he BCV on the clock face. Bruce is a life long hobbyist. Charlotte is a well known gourd artist. The art work is first burned into the surface using wood burning tool. The color shading is then added using a variety of wood stains. The finish is a clear sealer. The movement is installed using wood blocks glued to the inside of a gourd shell. Due to the gourd shell thickness and depth it was necessary to lengthen the hands shafts using brass tubing. This also made it necessary to lengthen the hands from a sheet of brass. The pendulum length had to be determined through a trial process because of the difference in weight distribution of wood compared to the brass pendulum that came with the movement. A brass collar at the top of the pendulum provides the hook that attaches to the movement. A threaded brass rod with a threaded wooden knob at the bottom of the pendulum provides the regulator adjustment. The key shaft also had to be lengthened using brass tubing and a carved oak grip was added with a mouse face on one side and a flower on the other. The key sits in a holder at the top of the frame. "

William Reid 2007 Grand Prize Winner Planfield, NJ "This grandfather clock was designed and crafted during the last half of 2006 and completed in February 2007. It is 80" high, 22" wide and 10" deep. The cabinet is made of Mahogany with wavy art glass front and sides. The movement is a Kieninger Cable driven No. 13049. This is my first grandfather clock. I have crafted several wall clocks using movements from your company. Thank all of your staff for the great services over several years that I purchased from your company."

Jerry E. Hite 2007 Mantel Clock Winner Bellevue, WA "The bracket clock was inspired by photos of an arch dial bracket clock dating back to the mid 1700s. I took the proportions and sized the clock to my liking. Originally I fitted the case with a quartz movement but later felt a mechanical movement would be more suitable and fitted the triple-chime Hermle movement and new dial face. I enjoy creating my projects from scratch and your products and service have always support my efforts."
